Typlt Jaromír (bio ENG)

Since the spring of 2008, Typlt has worked as curator at the new Liberec gallery, U Rytíře. He is also active in the field of theatre and music - for example, he performed (together with Pavel Novotný) in Ursonate, a play based on a phonetic poem by Kurt Schwitters.

Typlt has published several books of poetry and fiction, including Movable Thresholds of Temples (Pohyblivé prahy chrámů, 1991), Lost Inferno (Ztracené peklo, 1994) and Opposite to Overthrow (Opakem o překot, 1996). Since 2000, he has created several book-objects or "book performances". These works, which resist any clear definition, are made in collaboration with visual artists, including že ne zas až (2003, together with Jan Měřička) and Pressure (2006). Since the late 1990s, Typlt has explored the form of "mutated author readings," involving the use of pre-recorded voices, language rhythm and found objects and improvisation. He applies similar methods when making his unique recordings, which were first publicly presented as part of the Radiocustica program in 2006.

His texts have been included in a short film (Viktor Kopasz: Shadowplay, 2002), a radio composition (Michal Rataj: not all that, 2006) and several exhibitions. Typlt is also editor of fine art and literary art brut (Zdeněk Košek, Hana Fousková, František Novák and others), and has published several studies on Czech writers and visual artists.
