He complemented his studies with several fellowships abroad, including at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique (where he studied composition with Paul Méfan and electroacoustic music with Luis Naon and Laurent Cuniot) and at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (musicology with Hermann Danuser and Wolfgang Auhagen). He also attended a masterclass led by Ivan Fedele and Philippe Manoury.

Today, Srnka composes primarily instrumental and vocal music for leading European ensembles and soloists, including Ensemble Itinéraire, Leipzig Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, Ensemble Intercontemporaine, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Camilla Hoitenga, and Theater und Philharmonisches Orchester der Stadt Heidelberg.

Srnka is the recipient of the 2001 Gideon Klein Award, the 2001 Generace award and the 2004 Leoš Janáčk Foundation award.
