Rudiš Jaroslav (bio ENG)

His debut novel of "rock stories from the Berlin metro" Nebe pod Berlínem (2002) received the Jiří Orten prize. This was followed by the hugely successful trilogy of graphic novels Alois Nebel (2003-2005).
In 2006 Rudiš published the novel Grandhotel, for which he later wrote a screenplay adaptation (Grandhotel, 2006) for director David Ondříček. The film was also shown at the Berlinale film festival. His third novel, Potichu (Quietly), was published in the autumn of 2007.
Together with Petr Pýcha, he wrote the plays Léto v Laponsku (Summer in Lapland, 2005; book version 2006) and Strange Love (2007). Together with German author Martin Becker, he wrote the German radio play Lost in Praha (2008) for WDR in Cologne. He is currently working on the libretto for the Czech-German opera Exit Revolution about the events of 1968, to be performed in the fall of 2008 at Prague's Archa Theater. Rudiš also presents a monthly literary cabaret called EKG at the Archa together with Igor Malijevský.
Rudiš lives in Prague's Žižkov neighborhood and occasionally performs with the bands U-Bahn and The Bombers.
