Bosshard Andres (bio ENG)

Bosshard studied musicology, flute and art history in Zürich. He has also worked as a music teacher and a sound master. His activities in the visual arts eventually brought him to experimental theatre, sound installation, making his own electroacoustic musical instruments and realizing his own improvised pieces.

In 1985 Bosshard co-founded the improvisational ensemble "Nachtluft", with which he toured Japan in 1987. In the same year, he presented his first extensive project, "Staudamm in Fusio", in which he turned a giant dam into a huge sound reflector.

In the 1990s, Bosshard undertook several study journeys to India and Pakistan, and later taught at the Kunsthochschule für Medien in Cologne. To this day, he teaches courses at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, where he is a docent in the field of new media.

As an artist, Bosshard works on the interface between contemporary music and visual art; he himself often describes his art in terms of "audio architecture".
